Kirby Café Tokyo: How Booking Works Now, Whether You Can Walk In, and the Rules at the Door
Kirby Café Tokyo is in Tokyo Solamachi at Tokyo Skytree, on the 4th floor of East Yard. Booked guests are seated first; you can walk in only if seats happen to be free. Since the August 2026 bookings, reserving needs an account verified by a phone call from your registered number, with up to three bookings per branch per month. Visits last 85 minutes and ID is checked at the door. I run private anime tours in Akihabara most weeks, and this is the character café guests most often try to book.
The café is run by BENELIC, the company that also runs the Jump Shops. The rules below are from its official FAQ, read on 4 October 2026.
Do you need a reservation for Kirby Café Tokyo?
Not strictly, but you should book. The official FAQ says booked guests are seated first, and that walk-ins are possible only when seats are free, with no guarantee. The take-out menu and the separate Kirby Café The Store need no reservation. The goods corner inside the café is for café guests only.
If you cannot get a table, two things still work without booking: the take-out counter at the café, and Kirby Café The Store in the same shopping centre. At Tokyo Station there is also Kirby Café PETIT, a take-out sweets shop on Tokyo Character Street. The broader picture of character and collab cafés is in anime collab cafés in Tokyo; for the Akihabara side of your trip, my Akihabara anime tour plans the day around the anime you name.
How do you book Kirby Café Tokyo?
Online only, through the official reservation site, with an account. From the August 2026 bookings, which opened on 10 July 2026, every booking needs an account. Registering involves entering your name and phone number, then verifying the number by calling an authentication line from it. Phone bookings are not accepted.
| Rule (official FAQ) | Detail |
|---|---|
| Account | Required for bookings from August 2026 |
| Phone verification | Call the verification line from the number you registered |
| Limit | Up to 3 bookings per account, per branch, per month |
| Group size | Tokyo: up to 8 people per booking |
| Transfer or resale | Not allowed; the booked guest must attend with ID |
| Cancelling | Online until the day before; same-day cancellations by phone to the café |
This is the honest section. The FAQ does not say whether overseas phone numbers can complete the verification call, and it warns that some mobile-carrier email addresses do not receive the confirmation email. If you are booking from abroad, register well before your trip and use a common email provider, so you have time to find out whether your number works.
What happens when you arrive?
Come to the café ten minutes before your booking. Staff check your booking-confirmation email and the booked guest's photo ID. If you are more than ten minutes late, the booking is cancelled. Your table is yours for 85 minutes from the booking time, including seating and paying, and cannot be extended.
Seats are assigned by staff. Kids' chairs exist but are limited. A child under one who sits on an adult's lap does not count towards the booking size; a child in a stroller at the table does.
Is there a birthday service?
Yes. Staff add a chocolate birthday message to a dessert you order, with or without a special birthday song played in the café; you choose when booking. In your birthday month, showing ID with your birth date gets you a birthday coaster.
The coaster is only for the birthday month, but the message service works any month.
Is Kirby Café Tokyo worth it?
For Kirby fans, yes: the food is built to look like the characters, and some goods are only sold inside the café. It costs more than an ordinary café and the booking process takes effort. If you only want the goods, The Store in the same shopping centre needs no booking.
Solamachi also has Pokémon Center Skytree Town and a Jump Shop on its 4th floor, so a Kirby booking can anchor a character-shop afternoon. Pokémon Center Tokyo and Jump Shop Tokyo have those.
