Most students here started because they wanted to understand anime, manga or J-pop without waiting for subtitles. Lessons are 1-on-1 and shaped around whatever you're currently watching, reading or listening to — but the grammar and vocabulary carry over to any real conversation, not just fandom content.

Do I need to set my timezone?

No. The booking page detects your timezone from your browser and shows every slot in your local time.

What if I have never taken a lesson before?

Start with the 30-minute trial lesson ($13). We introduce ourselves and decide together how your lessons should work. Everyone starts here.

How do I pay?

By card at the moment you book — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details never reach me.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes, free of charge up to 12 hours before the lesson — I will send you a link to rebook at no charge. Within 12 hours, or if you do not show up within 15 minutes of the start time, the lesson counts as taken.

How far in advance do I need to book?

At least 24 hours before the lesson starts.

Which app do we use?

Google Meet. The link is in your confirmation email as soon as the booking goes through.

Is my japanese tutor online anime and manga savvy, or just any native speaker?

Your tutor is a Tokyo native who works anime, manga and music into lessons on request — these are japanese lessons online native to what you're already watching, not generic textbook drills. Mention your favorite shows in the trial lesson and I'll bring in real examples from day one.
