Solamachi Character Shops: Every Anime and Character Shop at Tokyo Skytree, Floor by Floor

Tokyo Solamachi, the shopping complex at the foot of Tokyo Skytree, puts most of its anime and character shops on the 4th floor: Pokémon Center Skytree Town, JUMP SHOP, Kirby Café TOKYO and its shop, Sanrio, Ultraman World M78 and a Gashapon Bandai Official Shop. The 3rd floor has Chiikawa Land, Snoopy Town, Miffy Style, Rilakkuma Store and the Disney Store, and the 2nd floor has Donguri Republic for Studio Ghibli goods. I run private anime tours in Akihabara most weeks, and Solamachi is the place I suggest for a Skytree day.

Tax-free is handled shop by shop, at shops showing the tax-free mark; there is no central counter.

Which character shops are on the 4th floor?

The official floor guide calls the 4th floor "TV Character" and "Japan Souvenir". Its character shops include Pokémon Center Skytree Town, JUMP SHOP, Kirby Café TOKYO, Kirby Café The Store, Sanrio, Ultraman World M78, Gashapon Bandai Official Shop, NHK Character Shop and the Tree Village entertainment shop.

Pokémon Center Tokyo compares Skytree Town with the other branches, and Jump Shop Tokyo does the same for Jump. For capsule toys, Akihabara gachapon covers the bigger halls. For Akihabara itself, my Akihabara anime tour plans the floors around your series.

What is on the 2nd and 3rd floors?

The 3rd floor has Chiikawa Land, Snoopy Town Shop, Miffy Style, Rilakkuma Store, the Disney Store, a Tomica and Plarail shop and POP MART ROBOSHOP. The 2nd floor has Donguri Republic, Studio Ghibli's official goods shop. Both floors also host pop-ups: from 3 October 2026, a Cardcaptor Sakura TaKaRaBaKo pop-up on 2F and a Star Wars pop-up on 3F.

For Ghibli fans, the museum is a separate trip; the Ghibli Museum guide explains tickets.

Is Solamachi better than Tokyo Character Street?

They overlap. Both have Pokémon, JUMP SHOP, Sanrio, Ultraman, Chiikawa, Ghibli and many more official shops. Tokyo Character Street is under Tokyo Station and easier on a travel day; Solamachi spreads its shops over several floors and pairs with the Skytree observation decks.

This is the honest section. Shop line-ups change, and pop-ups come and go every few weeks, so check the official floor guide before a special trip. Kirby Café is booking-based; anime collab cafés in Tokyo explains how its reservations work. Tokyo Character Street lists the Tokyo Station shops for comparison.

How does tax-free work at Solamachi?

Each shop handles it. Solamachi says there is no tax-free counter; look for the tax-free mark on a shop, and the procedure differs by shop. There are currency exchange machines in the building, including one on the 4th floor.

From 1 November 2026 you pay the tax at the till and get it back after a customs check at the airport; tax-free shopping in Japan after November 2026 explains the change.
