I ate here on 11 October 2026 at 20:27 and photographed the door, both sides of the menu and my meal. Prices below are the tax-included figures printed on that menu.
Yes. Katsuya Akihabara Central Gate branch is a tonkatsu and katsudon chain shop about one minute from JR Akihabara. Katsudon starts at ¥682 including tax, set meals at ¥759, and it is open 07:00 to 23:00 with last order at 22:30. I did not photograph how you order or pay, so those two points are marked unconfirmed below.

What is Katsuya?
A chain of fast tonkatsu shops. The sign reads かつや with the words とんかつ and カツ丼 beside it. The menu is breaded pork cutlet on rice, as a bowl (donburi) or a set meal (teishoku) with rice, miso soup and cabbage. The menu notes the pork is US pork and the rice is domestic.
It is a counter-style shop, not a destination restaurant. I use it as the quick, cheap, hot-meal answer, and as the pork-cutlet alternative when a guest does not want ramen or curry.
How much does it cost?
Bowls run from ¥682 to ¥1,232 and set meals from ¥759 to ¥1,199, all including tax. The cheapest full meal is the plain katsudon (ume, 80 g loin) at ¥682. Prices are from the menu on the table on 11 October 2026 and chains change them, so treat them as a guide.
| Dish | Incl. tax |
|---|---|
| Katsudon, ume (80 g loin) | ¥682 |
| Katsudon Light (less rice) | ¥649 |
| Sauce katsudon, ume | ¥682 |
| Tartar chicken katsu bowl | ¥693 |
| 2-egg katsudon, ume | ¥792 |
| Special katsudon (80 g loin, onsen egg, extra rice) | ¥913 |
| Hire (fillet) katsudon | ¥979 |
| Pork-and-sauce bowl (butadon) | ¥979 |
| Prawn Triple Bowl (limited time) | ¥979 |
| Loin katsu set meal (120 g) | ¥913 |
| Karaage set meal | ¥869 |
| Katsu curry, ume | ¥869 |
| Prawn Triple Set Meal (limited time) | ¥1,089 |
| Heavy & Mix bowls | ¥1,210–¥1,232 |
Pork soup (tonjiru) is ¥165 small or ¥220 large on its own, and set meals can swap to the large size for +¥55. The A set (small tonjiru and salad) is ¥275. The B set (small tonjiru and onsen egg) is ¥253. The menu says these two sets are for bowls and curry.

What did I order?
The special katsudon (toku katsudon) with the A set. The receipt shows ¥913 for the bowl and ¥275 for the set, ¥1,188 in total including ¥108 tax. That is more than the ¥682 entry price because I took the onsen-egg bowl with extra rice and the soup and salad on top.
The bowl is loin cutlet in egg over rice with an onsen egg on top and herbs. The A set is a small pork soup and a seaweed-and-leaf salad.

When is it open?
07:00 to 23:00 per the sign on the door, with last order at 22:30. The door reads 営業時間 あさ7:00〜よる11:00 and ラストオーダー よる10:30. A Gurunavi listing I checked on 4 November 2026 gives 07:00–23:00 every day, including holidays. Hours can change, so check before a late visit.
Where exactly is it?
Kanda-Matsunagachō 7, Chiyoda-ku, Yamari Building 1F, about one minute from JR Akihabara according to Gurunavi. Look for the orange and brown かつや sign and a vertical orange お弁当 / カツ丼 / とんかつ sign over the pavement. I did not photograph the address on site; it comes from the Gurunavi listing, checked 4 November 2026, and I have not seen it on the shop's own page.
Is there anything for vegetarians?
No, not that I can see. Every dish on both menu spreads is pork, chicken or prawn, and the pork soup contains pork. I did not see a vegetarian item and I did not ask staff, so check with them if it matters. If anyone in your group is vegetarian, I would pick another place.
Is there an English menu?
Unconfirmed. The menus I photographed are in Japanese only, with photographs and prices next to every dish, so pointing works. I did not see an English menu or an English ordering screen, but I did not look for one. The receipt is in Japanese as well.
Can you pay with a card?
Unconfirmed. I did not photograph a payment sticker or the till. Bring cash to be safe. The receipt says the order was taken at table C4-A, so there is some kind of order system, but I did not photograph how it works.
How does it compare with Shōwa Shokudō?
Both are set-meal places a short walk from the station. Katsuya does one thing, fried pork and chicken cutlets on rice, from ¥682 a bowl, and opens at 07:00 per the door. Shōwa Shokudō is a teishoku diner with a wider range of dishes. If the group agrees on tonkatsu and wants it fast and cheap, Katsuya. If people want different things, Shōwa Shokudō has more choice.

Sources and honesty note
Menu items, prices, the opening hours on the door and my order are transcribed from photographs I took on 11 October 2026. The address, the daily 07:00–23:00 hours listing and the one-minute walk come from a Gurunavi listing found through a web search on 4 November 2026; I did not open the shop's own page. Payment methods, English-language support, vegetarian options and how ordering works are not confirmed. The menu prices may have changed since the visit.
No affiliate links. I eat here when a guest wants a hot cutlet bowl in a hurry.
