I visited on 21 October 2026 and photographed the display case, the menu boards and the café floor. Prices below are what the cards in the case said that day.

a la campagne, on the fourth floor of atré Akihabara 1 inside the station building. It is a French-style tart and cake café: you choose a slice from a display case, sit down, and order a drink. Take-out tarts in the case run from ¥778 to ¥1,296, and on weekdays a cake set takes ¥220 off cake plus a drink. The official shop list gives 10:00 to 22:00.

What is a la campagne?

A tart and cake specialist written ア・ラ・カンパーニュ in Japanese. The Akihabara branch has two shops under one address: a pâtisserie for take-out on 1F and a café with seating on 4F. This article is about the café. The brand's plates and cups carry the name pressed into the glaze, and the tablecloths are an olive-and-lemon print.

I did not photograph the exterior sign, so I cannot give you the shop's exact on-sign wording. The name on the menu boards and tableware is a la campagne.

The café is a good stop on my Akihabara anime tour when guests want to sit down after walking and nobody is hungry enough for a meal.

What do the tarts cost?

Between ¥778 and ¥1,296 a slice in the case. The prices on the cards are take-out prices with 8% tax. A notice in the case says eat-in is taxed at 10% and priced separately, so a seat costs about 2% more than the card price (I have not listed eat-in prices because they are not printed anywhere I could photograph). I have not seen the eat-in menu price for each slice; the eat-in column below is my own arithmetic (pre-tax price × 1.10) and is unconfirmed.

Slice (as on the card) Take-out price, tax incl.
Double cheese cake ¥778
Apple pie (tarte aux pommes américaine) ¥810
Strawberry shortcake ¥864
Fig tart ¥972
Pumpkin tart ¥972
Chestnut tiramisu tart ¥972
Mixed fruit tart (Tarte Mérimelo) ¥994
Strawberry forêt-noire ¥1,026
Shine muscat tart ¥1,080
Nagano purple grape and pistachio tart ¥1,296

The case changes with the season. In October it held grape, fig, pumpkin (with Halloween decorations) and chestnut. Do not expect the same list in another month.

What is the weekday cake set?

On weekdays only, a cake of ¥900 or more (tax included) plus one drink is ¥220 cheaper than buying them separately (¥200 before tax). The drinks listed on the board are coffee, Nilgiri black tea, café latte (all hot or iced), rooibos tea (hot or iced) and apple juice. Most tarts in the case are over ¥900, so the set applies to nearly all of them.

The board says the set is weekday limited (平日限定). I visited on a Wednesday but I do not know whether the set was applied to my bill, so I will not give you a worked total. I did not photograph the drink price list.

What did I eat?

The Nagano purple grape and pistachio tart, with a pot of black tea. The grapes sit on a pistachio cream over a dark base, and the card in the case lists it as the most expensive slice. A fig tart was on the other side of the table. The photograph is the evidence; I will not describe taste further than that the grapes were whole and glossy.

Is there food other than cake?

Yes, a lunch menu stands on the entrance board: pasta at ¥1,320–¥1,375 with salad, and three plates with soup at ¥1,210, ¥1,320 and ¥1,650. A drink set adds ¥385 and a dessert set ¥1,045 (coffee or tea plus a cake of your choice). I read these off the sign and did not order from it. The sign says the lunch menu is limited to lunchtime; the hours of that window are unconfirmed.

Can you pay with a card?

Probably, but I cannot name the brands. Next to the register there are stickers for credit cards, transport IC cards and teppay, and a JRE POINT notice. The photo is too small to read which brands are ticked, so check at the counter before you order.

Register area: payment and JRE POINT notices above the display case

Is there an English menu? Is it vegetarian-friendly?

English menu: unconfirmed. The display cards have English names for some items (Fig Tart, Pumpkin Tart, Strawberry Shortcake) and the entrance sign says in four languages that you may not bring your own food or drink, but the descriptions and the café menu I saw were in Japanese. Pointing at the case works.

Vegetarian: nothing here is labelled vegetarian. The cards list allergens (egg, dairy, wheat, almonds, pistachio and others appear on different cards), and the lunch boards show a bolognese and a salmon plate. Tarts and cakes in the case do not look like they contain meat, but I did not confirm gelatin or other animal ingredients, so I cannot say they are vegetarian. Ask the staff.

What is it like inside?

A long, narrow room with warm lighting, terracotta floor tiles, star-shaped lamps and tables along a glass wall with a view of the building outside. There were people on laptops, which tells you it is fine to stay for a while; I did not ask about a time limit.

When is it open?

10:00 to 22:00, with last orders at 20:00 for food and 21:30 for drinks, according to the official shop list for the 4F café (checked 4 November 2026). Closed days are not listed there. I did not photograph a posted hours sign, so confirm on the day if you are cutting it fine.

Where exactly is it?

atré Akihabara 1, 4F, 1-17-6 Sotokanda, Chiyoda-ku, inside the station building. The tart pâtisserie for take-out is on the 1F of the same building. Phone for the café: 03-5289-3854 (from the official shop list).

Frequently asked questions

Can I take a tart away instead? Yes, the 1F pâtisserie of the same building sells take-out, and the case prices are take-out prices.

Can I bring my own food or drink into the café? No. The entrance sign says so in English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

Is it good for a long sit? I saw people working on laptops, but I did not ask about time limits.

Can I add a cake to a group tour stop? Yes. Tell me beforehand and I will plan around it.

Sources and honesty note

Tart names, prices, the cake set and the lunch board are transcribed from photographs I took on 21 October 2026. The address, phone and hours (10:00–22:00, last order food 20:00 and drinks 21:30) come from the official a la campagne shop list, checked 4 November 2026. Eat-in prices are my own arithmetic and are unconfirmed. I have not confirmed the English menu, the card brands accepted, vegetarian suitability, closed days or the exact lunch hours.

No affiliate links. I come here because it is a place to sit near the station that is open until 22:00 per the official list.
