Rilakkuma and Sumikko Gurashi Shops in Tokyo: Where They Are, and the Tokyo Station Reopening

San-X, the company behind Rilakkuma and Sumikko Gurashi, runs Rilakkuma Store and Sumikko Gurashi Shop branches across Tokyo: Tokyo Station, Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi, Harajuku, Ikebukuro Sunshine City, Shinjuku and Kichijōji. The Tokyo Station shops, on B1 of Tokyo Station Ichibangai, close from 15 to 19 October 2026 and reopen on 20 October as a combined Rilakkuma Store & Sumikko Gurashi Shop. Solamachi gets a Skytree × Sumikko Gurashi collaboration first, from 10 October. I run private anime tours in Akihabara most weeks, and this is the list I give fans of these characters.

San-X says the shops may hand out numbered tickets without notice when busy, and posts updates on X (@_rks_official).

Where are the Rilakkuma and Sumikko Gurashi shops in Tokyo?

San-X's own list for the Kantō area includes Tokyo Station, Kichijōji, Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi, Harajuku, Ikebukuro Sunshine City and Shinjuku, plus the Sumikko Gurashi Shop at Tokyo Station. In Solamachi, Rilakkuma Store is on the 3rd floor; in Harajuku, both are on the 4th floor of Kiddy Land.

What is happening at the Tokyo Station shop in October 2026?

The Rilakkuma Store and the Sumikko Gurashi Shop at Tokyo Station are moving and merging. They close from 15 to 19 October and reopen on Tuesday 20 October as Rilakkuma Store & Sumikko Gurashi Shop Tokyo Station, with an original charm as a reopening gift for purchases over a set amount while stocks last, and shop-limited items sold one per purchase.

Tokyo Station reopening (official) Detail
Closed 15–19 Oct 2026
Reopens 20 Oct 2026, combined
Reopening gift Original charm, over a set spend, while stocks last
Limited items One per purchase
Not available 20 Oct – 1 Nov Paid wrapping, orders, holds, mail order, delivery

This is the honest section. Reopening weeks bring queues and one-per-purchase limits, and the shop does not take holds or reservations. If you are in Tokyo from 15 to 19 October, use the Solamachi, Harajuku or Ikebukuro shops instead.

What is the Skytree × Sumikko Gurashi collaboration?

Collaboration goods with Tokyo Skytree, sold first at the Sumikko Gurashi Shop in Solamachi from 10 October 2026, and from 14 November at the Tokyo Station, Kichijōji, Harajuku, Ikebukuro and Shinjuku shops. One of each item per purchase; no reservations.

For the rest of Solamachi's character floors, the Pokémon Center and JUMP SHOP are on the 4th floor; if you shop tax-free, from 1 November 2026 you pay the tax at the till and get it back after a customs check at the airport.

Are these the same as Sanrio?

No. Rilakkuma and Sumikko Gurashi are San-X characters, not Sanrio ones, and San-X runs its own shops. Sanrio has separate stores, including one on Solamachi's 4th floor.

Tax-free shopping in Japan after November 2026 explains the new tax-free process for purchases at shops like these.
