Hakuhinkan Toy Park Ginza: What Is on Each Floor, Tax-Free, and the Airport Branches

Hakuhinkan Toy Park is a toy shop in Ginza, founded 127 years ago, with about 200,000 items over four floors at 8-8-11 Ginza, three minutes from JR Shimbashi Station's Ginza exit. The 1st floor has variety goods, the 2nd plush and character goods, the 3rd toys, and the 4th games, hobby and a 36-metre slot-car circuit, plus magic performances on some weekends. Tax-free service is available for purchases of 5,000 yen or more at the counters on floors 2 to 4. There are also branches at Haneda and Narita airports. I run private anime tours in Akihabara most weeks, and Hakuhinkan is the toy shop I suggest to guests staying around Ginza.

The shop describes its range as everything from children's toys to plush, games, dolls, variety goods and souvenirs for overseas visitors.

What is on each floor of Hakuhinkan Toy Park?

From the official floor guide: 1F variety goods; 2F plush toys and characters; 3F toys; 4F games, hobby and racing, where Hakuhinkan Racing Park runs 1/32-scale slot cars on a circuit about 36 metres long.

Floor (official) What it is
4F Games, hobby and racing: the slot-car Racing Park; jigsaw puzzles; magic corner with performances on some weekends
3F Toys, including model railways such as Plarail
2F Plush and character goods, including a Monchhichi corner and pop-up shops
1F Variety goods; seasonal pop-ups

In October 2026 the shop lists magic performances on the 4th floor on weekends including 3–4, 10–11, 17–18 and 24–25 October. For anime figures and series goods, Akihabara has more, and my Akihabara anime tour covers those shops.

How does tax-free work at Hakuhinkan?

Visitors from abroad who spend 5,000 yen or more in the toy sections on floors 1 to 4 can get tax-free service at the tax-free counters on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, showing a passport at payment.

From 1 November 2026, Japan's tax-free system changes: you pay the tax at the till and get it back after a customs check at the airport. Tax-free shopping in Japan after November 2026 explains what that means at a counter like this.

Where is Hakuhinkan Toy Park, and are there airport branches?

The Ginza main store is at 8-8-11 Ginza, Chūō City: three minutes from JR Shimbashi's Ginza exit or Shimbashi exit 1 on the Ginza line, and five minutes from Ginza Station exit A2. It has no regular closing days. Hakuhinkan also has Toy Park branches at Haneda Airport Terminal 3 (5th floor, with a slot-car circuit and magic shows), Narita Airport and New Chitose Airport.

Branch (official) Where
Ginza main store 8-8-11 Ginza; 3 min from JR Shimbashi (Ginza exit)
Haneda Airport Terminal 3, 5th floor
Narita Airport Listed on the official site
New Chitose Airport Hokkaido

This is the honest section. Hakuhinkan is a general toy shop, not an anime specialist: you will find character goods and Japanese souvenirs, but not the depth of figures and series goods in Akihabara. Its Haneda branch is handy for last-minute gifts before an international flight.

Is Hakuhinkan worth visiting?

For families, gift shopping and slot-car fans, yes. It is a classic Ginza toy shop with four floors, a racing circuit and magic shows. For anime collectors, Akihabara is the better trip.

Toho also lists Hakuhinkan Toy Park Ginza among its Godzilla stockists. For Akihabara's own souvenirs, see what to buy in Akihabara, and for family days, Akihabara with kids.
