AmiAmi Akihabara: The Figure Tower, the Radio Kaikan Store, and Why They Are Not the Online Shop

AmiAmi has two shops in Akihabara: the eight-floor AmiAmi Akihabara Figure Tower at 1-15-3 Sotokanda, two minutes from the JR Electric Town Exit, which its operator calls one of Akihabara's largest figure shops, and a store on the 4th floor of Radio Kaikan. Both buy as well as sell. AmiAmi itself warns that the shops are separate from its online store, with different stock and prices. I run private anime tours here most weeks, and that warning is the thing overseas AmiAmi customers need to hear first.

Many visitors know AmiAmi as a website they order from at home. In Akihabara it is also a physical shop, two of them, and the experience is different.

Where are the AmiAmi stores in Akihabara?

The Figure Tower is at 1-15-3 Sotokanda, a whole building of figures over eight floors, opened on 19 July 2024. The Radio Kaikan store is on the 4th floor of Radio Kaikan, 1-15-16 Sotokanda, across from the Electric Town Exit. AmiAmi also runs a small fair-goods shop in Ikebukuro.

Both Akihabara stores are within a couple of minutes of each other, so they fit easily into a figure-hunting afternoon, with or without my Akihabara anime tour.

Is AmiAmi in Akihabara the same as AmiAmi online?

No. AmiAmi's store pages say the shops are separate from the online shop, so the items and prices differ, and shop staff cannot answer questions about online orders. If you have an online order, contact the online shop through its own form, not the store. Check each store's social media for the latest hours and changes.

This is the honest section. A figure you saw on AmiAmi's website may not be on the shelf, and the shelf price may be different. Treat the shops as their own stores: walk in, compare, and if something specific matters, compare against other Akihabara shops too. What is the AmiAmi Figure Tower?

A building given over entirely to figures, eight floors of them, opened on 19 July 2024 by AmiAmi's operator, Oh-ami, which describes it as one of the largest figure shops in Akihabara. It also has a buying counter if you want to sell.

The floor plan is published as an image on AmiAmi's site rather than as text, so check the floor directory by the lift when you arrive. As with every multi-floor shop here, take the lift to the top and walk down.

What is at the AmiAmi Radio Kaikan store?

A store on the 4th floor of Radio Kaikan selling anime goods and hobby items, with regular series fairs; in autumn 2026 its listed fairs included Blue Archive and Asobi Mawari-tai!. It has its own buying counter.

Because it is inside Radio Kaikan, it pairs with the building's ten floors of cards, figures and dolls; Radio Kaikan's floor guide lists them.

Can you sell figures to AmiAmi in Akihabara?

Yes. Both Akihabara stores list in-store buying, with set hours for the buying counter. AmiAmi's site has a guide to how in-store buying works. Bring photo ID; Japanese secondhand buyers generally ask for it.

If you are buying rather than selling and plan to spend a lot, ask about tax-free at the counter. From 1 November 2026 you pay the tax at the till and get it back after a customs check at the airport; tax-free shopping in Japan after November 2026 explains.
