Japanese with Anime Sensei is a 1-on-1 online Japanese lesson service for anime fans, taught by Yuuki — a native Japanese teacher in Tokyo, ranked in the top 1% of italki teachers, with 2,000+ lessons taught to 400+ students worldwide. Lessons are conversation-focused and built around the anime, manga, and video games you already love.

Trial lessons are $13 for 30 minutes. Regular lessons are $23 (30 min) / $28 (45 min) / $32 (60 min) / $47 (90 min). A 5-lesson package gives you 10% off. All prices are USD and lessons are taught online over Google Meet.

No prior Japanese is required. Complete beginners are welcome. Beginner lessons start with hiragana, basic greetings, and self-introduction, using your favorite anime or manga as context to make new vocabulary stick.

Yes. Yuuki has watched over 1,500 anime titles and tailors vocabulary, expressions, and culture notes to the series you love. Tell him your favorite show in your first lesson and he will build future lessons around it.

Lessons are taught on Google Meet. After you book, you receive a calendar invite with the Meet link automatically. You only need a quiet space, a working microphone, and a stable internet connection.

Open the 1-on-1 page and pick a time on the booking calendar. New students should choose Trial Lesson (30 min) — that includes a self-introduction in English and a short conversation practice so you can see how Yuuki teaches before committing to a regular lesson.

You can reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before the lesson using the link in your confirmation email. Inside the 24-hour window, please contact Yuuki directly by email so he can find a new time for you.
